For installing into an ICF wall, the best approach is to use long structural screws designed for composite or masonry installations. Since ICF walls typically have foam with embedded plastic studs (webs) and concrete behind them, most installers will fasten directly into the ICF plastic studs/webs using longer construction screws that can securely bite into those studs.
In terms of spacing, we generally recommend fastening into each ICF stud/web location rather than strictly following an 8″ spacing rule. Most ICF systems have studs spaced 6″ or 8″ on center, so the goal is to make sure each panel is anchored into those structural points. As long as you’re consistently fastening into the ICF studs across the panel, that will provide a strong and reliable installation.
If you happen to know the spacing of the studs in your ICF wall, that will help guide the exact xxxx placement.
